Azerbaijani folk dance

The process of creation and shaping of the folk dance art in the territory of Azerbaijan lasted for centuries. Many dances, in particular ancient dances, are named in accordance with the most popular animal or plant "jeiran" - gazelle, "lale" - field poppy, "benevshe"- violet, "innabi" - ziziphus and others. The thematic content of Azerbaijani dances is diverse and is divided into work related ("choban" - "shepherd's"), ceremonial (wedding, calendar, ritual), everyday ("mirzayi", "turajı"), heroic - military ("jangi" - the combative male dance), sports ("zorkhana"), round - play ("yalli" - festive round dance, "halay"), geographical ("Asta Garabaghi", "Derbendi", etc.), names of tribes and personnel ("Chagatai", "tarakama", "Jafari", "Gyulgyaz", etc.), name of figures ("hundred one", "fourteen", etc.) and others.

Dance music was represented by female dances - slow lyrical or joyfully live, male dances - solemnly sublime ("mirzayi" - the dance of wisdom, danced by old people, etc.) incendiary - swirly ("gaytaqy", "askerani" etc.).

The Azerbaijani national dances are inseparably linked with history, reflect character, life and life of the people.
