The state of Shirvanshahs in the XV century

After the death of Teymur (1405), Miranshah's sons Omar and Abu Bakr tried to rule South Azerbaijan, but in 1406 the Jalairis and in 1410 the Qara Qoyunlus seized power in Azerbaijan.

During the reign of Shirvanshah Ibrahim (1382-1417), Khalilullah I (1417- 1465) and Farrukh Yasar (1465-1501), the northern part of Azerbaijan achieved economic and political progress. Ibrahim I not only protected Shirvan from the marches of Amir Teymur, but also saved Sheki and Georgia from destruction.

After Teymur's death, supporters of the idea of uniting Azerbaijan in a single state invited Shirvanshah Ibrahimi I to Tabriz. In May 1406, the allied army of Azerbaijanis entered Tabriz. Justice will be restored in the country in a short time. However, Azerbaijan's policy of unification has failed. This is hindered by internal and external enemies of the union. The second attempt at unification took place in 1410 Shirvanshah I Ibrahim oglu sent troops to Tabriz to help Sultan Ahmad Jalairi under the leadership of Kayumars. However, the second attempt failed because the army defeated Qara Yusif Sultan Ahmadi before reaching Tabriz. In 1412, Abraham I was defeated in a battle on the banks of the Kura River. He accepted the vassalship of Black Joseph and gave 1,200 tumans of goods to his treasury. After the death of Ibrahim I, his son Khalilullah I came to power. He refused to submit to the Qara Qoyunlus. In 1421, Khalilullah I defeated Alexander of Qara Qoyunlu together with Shahrukh, the ruler of Teymur, in Alashkert. Therefore, Alexander invaded Shirvan in 1425-1427-1428; 1433-1434 and plundered the country. Farrukh Yasar, who came to power after the death of Khalilullah I, ended his traditional Teymurid alliance against Uzun Hasan of Aghkoyunlu, who put an end to the Qara Qoyunlu state. He became related to the Aghkoyunlular. In 1488, Sultan Yagub, the son of Uzun Hasan, thwarted the attempt of the Safavid Sheikh Heydar to capture Shirvan.
